Bakgatla Resort is located at the foot of the Garamoga Hills in the Pilanesberg National Park. Bakgatla offers a true African safari in colonial style chalets or safari tents. This resort has its own braai area, pub, swimming pool, playground and offers game drives in the Pilanesburg National Park and excellent bird-watching in the reserve. Guests may also selfdrive in Pilanesberg.

Accommodation
The 5 Bed Chalets have air conditioning, a private patio and braai area. One double bed in the main bedroom and three single beds in the loft, the unit has a kitchen and bathroom en-suite. Chalets sleep a Maximum of 5 people.

There are 5 executive Safari Tents which are set on a wooden deck with a patio area looking out into the bush. These safari tents are fully electrified and have 2 x 3/4 Beds, Sleeper Couch, Small bar fridge, tea station  and own exclusive bathroom area. Units are not self-catering

Camping Sites - These are Electrified & Non-Electrified - should you require an electrical connection it is essential that you request an electrified campsite when booking. Maximum of 6 people and 2 motor vehicles per site, Sites have centrally situated communal ablution facilities.
40 electrified and 60 non-electrified camp sites

Caravan Sites - All sites are electrified (utility outlets 15amp) and each can accommodate 1 caravan with a maximum of 6 people and 2 motor vehicles per site, Sites have centrally situated communal ablution facilities.

Please note:
Allocation of the campsites is on a first come basis. The Pilanesberg area is semi desert with grass cover very limited. In the rainy season the area will possibly become muddy.
The bathroom facilities can become crowded - please keep these clean.

Activities
Bakgatla offers relaxation and much more for the outdoor enthusiast, such as self or conducted game drives, bird watching and exciting excursions in and around the Pilanesberg National Park. Hiking Trails depart in the early morning and go deep into the park with an experienced guide. There is a minimum of 4 guest and no Children under 12 years of age are permitted.

Wildlife
Lion, elephant, black and white rhino, buffalo, leopard - Big Five- also cheetah and wild dog - Magnificent seven. Giraffe, zebra, warthog, baboon, monkey, hippo, crocodile, and a variety of antelope including kudu, impala, waterbuck, Springbok, Wildebeest, Eland, Blesbok, Tsessebe and Steenbok are regularly seen, along with a number of the more elusive or less common animals. With a bird population of over 250 different species. Bring your binoculars!

Access
Bakgatla Resort is accessable by road, Johannesburg is only 175km, Pretoria 135km and Sun City 20km.

Child Policy
Children are welcome at Bakgatla Golden Leopard Resort and activities available for them include a swimming pool and trampoline.

There is 24 hour electricity in all accommodation (chalets, tents).
