
Buffalo Thorn Lodge, a self-catering accommodation facility is part of the Black Rhino Private Game Reserve now incorporated into the Pilanesberg National Park. A Malaria free game park 30 kms from Sun City and approximately 2,5 hours drive from Johannesburg.

Buffalo Thorn Lodge has 5 luxuriously appointed Chalets which accommodated a maximum of 10 guests. This Lodge has to be booked by one party at a time – minimum 2 night stay. You will have exclusive use of the Lodge whose staff will help you make the most of your visit to Pilanesberg.
The freestanding air-conditioned Chalets have king size double beds (or twin) with private en suite bathrooms, each with a Jacuzzi bath as well as indoor and outdoor showers. Also each accommodation unit has a lounge and private deck with sun loungers. There are 2 family chalets each with a king size double bed or twin and in addition there are 2 single beds in the loft for children. Then 3 Chalets – double king size beds or twin. Camping cots are also available.
Note that the chalet configuration is to suite families – note; the maximum number of guests at Buffalo Thorn Lodge including children is 10.
The main Lodge has a dining room, TV lounge with DSTV and home theatre centre, snooker table, a reading lounge and then a deck with swimming pool and heated Jacuzzi - all with a view into the bush and the often close sightings of the wildlife..
All food and drink will have to be brought in with you. All meal preparation and cooking to be done by guests. Lodge staff service the Lodge and offer guided game drives (approx 2,5 hours) on the Black Rhino concession and in the Pilanesberg National Park, this is included in the lodge tariff as is the Conservation fee.
